Wall Street Journals Massive Self Doubt

imageThe Wall Street Journal’s pay wall, meant to tease you with just a bit of the news and compel you to pay to read the rest of articles about such compelling subjects as Snickers ads and Trump tattoos looks more like massive self doubt. Instead of an abrupt cut off with clear text telling you to pay up or get your article about a Manhattan mansion with leather walls elsewhere, the text fades away in the design equivalent of a self doubting mumble, with only small text in what looks like an ad telling you how to get out. It practically says “I’m pretty sure you’re not really there, but if you are…oh…never mind.”
